Structural Repatterning
Anna and Shiatsu Massage Therapy
My name is David Lenius and I founded my independent massage business in 1994.  However, I’ve been giving massages informally since I was in college.  Family members and friends frequently sought me out when they had sore backs or feet, and I gladly worked on them.  I received my undergraduate degree in Chemistry in 1989 from the University of MN.  I found Japanese massage teacher Shogo (James) Mochizuki through a friend of mine, and signed up to learn his style of Anma and Shiatsu massage in a small group setting.  I liked the techniques I learned from James, and became intrigued by the possibility of creating a full-time profession out of massage work.  After graduating from the Mochizuki Institute, I worked there for a few years, helping to write, edit and lay out several of James’ massage instruction manuals.

My first professional massage position was at a chiropractic office.  While this was a good introduction to dealing with clients, before long I decided to strike out on my own, renting a private studio.  I shared an office in Uptown Minneapolis on Franklin Avenue for a year, before moving to a larger location near Calhoun Square, where I stayed for the next 13 years.  Since 2008 I have been operating out of my current studio in the East Hennepin neighborhood. Over the past 16 years, I have given body work to hundreds of clients, helping them deal with many types of injuries and pain.  I still use Shiatsu and Anma techniques, but have developed my own philosophy and methods, which I recently termed “Structural Repatterning.”

I hope to meet and work with you soon.
